“Kopf und Tuch” theater production Premiere!
Plan B Music at Tanzhaus
Plan B Music is producing the music for the Breakdance theater production “Kopf und Tuch.” Kopf und Tuch translates as “Head and Scarf,” which is meant to symbolize the conditions of women in the middle east. Kopf und Tuch presents the differences in cultures from the “east”(iran and iraq) from the “west”(western europe and u.s.). Especially focusing on how each cultural deals with gender.

Kopf und Tuch involves 14 Dancers, Videography by Benjamin Fleig, Directed by Franz Mettre, Dance Choreography by Farid Mohammadpourbaroug and Music by James van Leuven, aka Plan B Music.

The idea is to mix traditional persian instruments with western hip hop/electronic sound(ie plan b). For the project i’ve been sampling persian musicians that live in düsseldorf. I’m recording the santor, the dumbek and the oud. The production is one hour long.
